Fifth Chemo Treatment Done and new chemo starts

Carla had her fifth chemo treatment yesterday. And all is well. Last week in preparation for the treatment Carla was given another transfusion, because her platelets were low and the normal hydration treatment. So far the transfusion (This is her third during chemo) and hydration treatments have kept her on schedule.

Although the main chemo treatment ends in another three weeks with the sixth treatment, Carla is not done with chemo. This week she started a new chemo treatment, Avastin. It is suppose to prevent the formation of blood vessels that carry oxygen and nutrients to tumors. The plan is to take Avastin every three weeks for a year.

It seems like doctor visits have taken over Carla's life. Today she returns for a Neulasta shot to replenish white blood cells and a hydration treatment. Last cycle Carla's fatigue time started on Saturday and lasted almost a week. She also had a salty taste for over a week. Thankfully neither the fatigue and salty taste stayed. The other symptoms are manageable as well.

Nancy Tonies, an old friend from Bangkok arrives today for a visit. We look forward to seeing her. love, Brad
