Dr Lee Explanation

Posted by Megan

(follow up to Aunt Teri's previous post and prayer list)

Dr Lee came to visit this morning. She explained that the swelling, blood pressure, and urine output issues are all related to the functioning of the kidneys.  So, keep praying for all of those issues, but I find a little bit of comfort knowing that they are not really separate problems, but related to one issue that they are working on.  Pray for those kidneys to do their job!

Mom just completed another walk down the hall.  Her spirits are still up and she's pretty positive, although she is starting to realize that this is a bigger deal than we first expected.  Before she went in to surgery on Friday, she left a note on the counter for us to bring her crossword puzzles.  We all thought she'd be hanging out in the recovery room for a few days, fighting nothing other than boredom.  It hasn't turned out that way but she is still positive and definitely a fighter.

Other news: They've upped her oxygen back to 3 liters so still keep prayers coming for her breathing and lung capacity.  They've also clamped the stomach tube to see if she gets nauseous without it.  Ideally, with it clamped, she would start to get stomach grumbles, a sign that she's ready for some liquid food and they can remove the stomach tube (that would be a huge step!).  She also still pretty loopy from the medicine, with some crazy dreams (many of them, unsurprisingly, about stocks).

PS, Doctor Lee said we are still waiting on the prognosis from pathology and probably won't get it until next week.
