Mom is not going to be taken off the feeding tube after all today. Dad says it's because her stomach has not shown signs of being ready for food/digesting. However, she did take a first, long walk down the hall this morning.
She still has a high heart rate when sleeping but she now has a patch to help regulate her heart rate. They are reducing the amount of oxygen they are giving her each day with the hopes that she will be able to maintain the appropriate level on her own, but today she is falling short. She is also not able to score as high as she should on the breathing test. The first night and day she was scoring at the goal, 1500, but now she is just at 750. She is very competitive and keeps trying to score higher, but no signs of improvement yet. Her blood pressure has been high on and off this afternoon.
She has also had an allergic reaction in the form of a skin rash to the epidural medicine so she actually did have the epidural removed and they have given her an alternate form of pain control.

hello everyone.....this is teri and it's 10:20pm, i'm here in the room with carla, staying overnight....her blood pressure has been very high, like 192/126.....so they gave her an IV med that brought it down to 110/62 within a few minutes......please pray that her blood pressure stays down ...... she's going in and out of sleep, and seems confused when she's awake.....i believe that's due to the new pain medication ....i'm just so glad she's not in any pain, so guess it's ok for some of her statements to not be crystal clear to me!!....praying for her to have a good night....
