In the last 30 minutes, mom's heart rate has been high again and hasn't come down. The nurse did an EKG which was normal except high heart rate. Seems to be worse when Mom's sleeping and returns to slower rate when she's awake. Please keep this in your prayers! As I type this, her heart rate is better.

Lindsay, part of the reason it goes high during sleep is her blood pressure will drop as her muscles relax. In order to pump more blood to her body her heart rate will go up. They probably did a test this morning to see how hydrated she is. Sometimes it is just a matter of changing her IV fluids to a more hydrating one.
Another reason could be is she is in more pain than she lets on while she is awake, encourage her to take her pain medication before the pain gets severe.
Also, alarms go off a lot in ICU most the time it's just noted for the doctor the next morning. They did an EKG to make sure the heart rate wasn't a problem. Most likely they knew that before the test but the EKG was just to make sure they didn't miss anything.
I'm praying for you guys.
